Vale – Hera
–
It is with great sorrow that we have to announce that Hera has passed away in the early hours of this morning.
It is hard to describe how absolutely central she is to our hearts and our lives – and how big a hole it leaves without her in it.
The love, loyalty, intelligence, charisma and sheer joy of life that she brought to us, for the thirteen years of her life, has been the most precious of gifts. She is the closest thing we have had to a child.
We are trying to focus on the fact she still had reasonably good health for an older lady right up to the end, that she had a peaceful passing, and that she was surrounded by love her whole life.
Words cannot describe the depth and strength of that love, from my partner and I, her extended family, and her loyal legions of fans who met her in classes, off lead areas, and the tens of thousands of people who met her on our history tours and ghost tours over the last decade plus.
She has gone ahead of us across the Rainbow bridge – and I for one will be counting the days until we are reunited again. We will let people know in the next few days about any form of wake or celebration gathering to say goodbye.
With love and gratitude for her life.
